I have had many experiences when I have been able to feel my Heavenly Father's love for me, whether it was through a trial or a blessing. There have been many times in my life when I have been struggling or going through a difficult time, where my Heavenly Father has let me know He knows me & loves me. One time I was in the Temple, and thinking about a difficult situation. Suddenly I felt there was someone there that knew me, and loved me very much. To this day, I do not know who it was, but I know my Heavenly Father sent someone so that I would know the He knew who I was, and that he was aware of my situation. There was no solution to this situation, but I was able to bear it, and it seemed easier for me after this experience. I know our Heavenly Father loves us, and sends us help when we need it. I know we need to ask, and we will receive.

It was June 8, 1978 and I was a student at BYU. I was walking toward Deseret Towers where I was living at the time and there was a lot of talk and excitement-something about President Kimball making a special announcement. I hurried home to the lobby area where the TV was just in time to see him & the First Presidency. He announced that the Priesthood would be given to all worthy males. I felt the spirit so strong at this moment that I cried. I know the revelation was from God and it was sent through His Prophet Spencer W. Kimball. I never had any doubt that this was true.

I was a convert to the church at age 13. We came to Mesa as my Dad was in government employment. My mother, brother & self were left here when he was transferred. We met some wonderful LDS children our ages, and they invited us to church, which was twice on Sundays & mutual. We loved all the kids we met. We were invited to a Family Home Evening. A huge book was on their coffee table. I loved to read and asked if I could look at it. I was hooked and wanted to know if I could learn more. So Sister Webb, Sister Johnson and Sister Hancock set aside 1 day a week and had me come into their homes. I grew to love them and later called them Grandparents. The Library then was in the basement of the Temple, and I was not a member. Brother Johnson took me to a meeting with the Bishop. He knew I was attending all my meetings, but had to wait for my Father to be transferred back home. But he gave me a recommend, and a card with days and times that the Library was open. Everyday that it was opened I was there and the missionaries were there to help me. My father returned and gave his permission, and on the 6th of Nov. 1948 all my family was baptised. Since then I finished school and became a nurse, married and had 5 children. My second son died at birth,we then had another son and 2 daughters. I have been a Primary President, Relief Society Pres., Secretary to the Relief Society Pres, Stake Welfare Leader, filled 2 Missions, and sewed clothes & quilts for the Humanitarian Services. I spend my extra time at my computer doing family research in Ireland. I have a deep abiding testimony that Jesus is the Christ, my brother, and I am a strong believer in the Atonement. I am thankful for the service I have been able to give my heavenly Father.

RS History Project
Hi Sisters!
To celebrate the birthday of Relief Society we would like every sister to write an expirience from their life. This can be an overwhelming process, so we are going to focus on only one small “slice” of our lives. Think of your life as a cake. We have been commanded to write our life histories, which can be very overwhelming, but we can do it a slice or, if necessary, a bite at a time.
Memoirs can be about many different experiences. Here are some examples of what you could write about:
- your relationship with Heavenly Father
-Conversion story
-How you gained a testimony of the Savior, Book of Mormon, Church, Joseph Smith…
-A trial
-A blessing
-A time you felt the spirit especially strong (remember these will be shared, so please keep sacred things sacred)
-Experiences serving in the church
Write as little or as much as you would like, but please write something.
If you would like help, Elizabeth Heath is available by phone or email. I have been trained to work on projects like these professionally, not that I have all the answers, but I will do what I can to help you. 801-663-5151 elizabeth.heath@asu.edu
Follow the Spirit, and let him bring things to your remembrance that you may have forgotten. You will be led if you prepare and put forth the effort. You will be blessed as you keep the Lord’s commandments.
During Connies lesson in Relief Society this past Sunday several sisters shared beautiful spiritual expieriences. This is exactly what we are looking for. So please just take the time to write them down. :)
This can become addicting…so prepare for a wonderful journey of remembrance and self-exploration.
Due Date: March 14 (but we will take them earlier) Please email them to Liz Heath or Susan Waggoner or hand them in on Sunday to Liz Heath or Hillary Bitter.
